Prior to joining the Bar, Benjamin worked for the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), followed by his service specialising in trust litigation as well as matrimonial, taxation, corporate matters, probate and philanthropy practices at HSBC Global Private Banking for its trustee department.

Benjamin has handled a wide range of criminal matters, with experience in areas such as white-collar crimes, fraud, sexual offences, homicide, offences against the person, criminal damage, motor offences, drug-related offences and immigration offences. Having worked at the law enforcement agency before, Benjamin is experienced in handling matters in relation to investigation process and investigators’ powers, particularly process and powers in search and seizure operations and legal professional privilege (LPP) claims.

Alongside his criminal work, Benjamin has developed a strong practice in regulatory law, particularly SFC matters. Since the commencement of his practice, he has, in his own right and as a led junior, handled various SFC cases ranging from market misconduct, corporate fraud and misfeasance, intermediaries’ business misconduct to market manipulation cases. He assisted his clients in dealing with 179 inquiries and 183 notices under the Securities and Futures Ordinance (Cap 571), LPP claims over properties seized and disciplinary actions proposed by the SFC.

In addition to his advocacy, Benjamin is a sought-after junior for document review, drafting of pleadings and other advisory work. He was instructed to review privacy data policies and internal procedures and advised on the compliance of Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap 486).
