Practice profile

Amrit joined Century Chambers in 2019 upon completion of his pupillage with Mr. Jeevan Hingorani of Pacific Chambers, Mr. Christopher Grounds of South China Chambers and Mr. Giles Surman of Plowman Chambers.

Amrit is developing a broad civil and criminal practice, including but not limited to General Civil, General Criminal, White-Collar Crime, Company, Bankruptcy, Insolvency, Employment, Probate, Trusts, Defamation, Professional Negligence, Personal Injuries and Family law. Amrit accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ work.

Amrit’s criminal practice ranges from legal visits, plea bargains, bail applications and mitigations to trials and appeals. He has experience in dealing with cases of violent crime, theft, money laundering, dangerous drugs, sexual offences and traffic offences. He actively practices in criminal matters, acting for both defence and prosecution. Amrit recently appeared as a led junior prosecuting (on fiat) in a High Court jury trial.

On the civil side, Amrit has experience in cases involving commercial disputes, company and shareholder disputes, contractual disputes, contentious probate, insolvency, land, personal injury, defamation, employment law, matrimonial law and various interlocutory applications. He also acts in an advisory capacity in relation to those matters.

As an accredited mediator, Amrit has extensive knowledge of mediation and provides mediation services (both as counsel or as mediator) to parties who prefer alternative dispute resolution.
